Description:
"Wiley & the Hairy Man" tells the story of Wiley, a child growing up in a magical swamp with his Mama and his Dog. Sent into the swamp to find wood to build a house for his best friend (his Dog), Wiley finds himself pursued by his worst nightmare and greatest fear -- THE HAIRY MAN! Though Dog tries to protect him and Mama arms him with magic, Wiley realizes that he alone must face the Hairy Man and conquer him with wit and reason.
The story "Wiley & the Hairy Man" is a traditional folk tale with origins in the American south. The story was first written down during the Great Depression through the work of the WPA's Federal Writers Project. There are many versions of "Wiley". Our production is by Susan Zeder.
Ms. Zeder's telling of the story utilizes an ensemble chorus that narrates the story and organically creates the majority of the scenic elements of the play. It enhances the magic feeling that runs through the story and makes it visually interesting for the audience.
The cast is made up of 19 young people. They range in age from 7 to 16. Each of them has varying levels of theatre experience -- some have several shows under their belts, while for some this is their first show. All the kids are enthusiastic and very creative. They are willing to try anything and work very hard during rehearsals. We'll rehearse approximately 35-40 hours by the time we open..
Our Wiley is played by Samantha Shady. Wiley's Mama is Sophie Kent. Wiley's Dog is Sam Hill. Preston Patton is The Hairy Man. The chorus is Alex Bohnet, Robert Bohnet, Kasia Carter, Zariah Carter, Andrew Celedon, Isabel Celedon, Joseph Dickson, Alexa Ericson, Arissa Ericson, Bella Hancosky, Lindsey Hodges, Chloe Philpott, Emma Shady, Elizabeth Sickler and Ciara Smith.
The show runs one weekend only -- Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, July 22 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults -- $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the LCT Box Office - call 580-355-1600 to reserve by phone. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Description:
The Greater Lawton Rotary Club is a part of District 5770.
Our history goes back to 1918 with the combined history of the Lawton Rotary Club and the Lawton West Rotary Club. In 2008 both clubs got together and combined to create The Greater Lawton Rotary Club of Lawton. The merger of our two former clubs has been fantastic!
We are able to multiply the talents and energy of both clubs and serve both the local community and the projects of Rotary International in ways that is greater than what we could have done separately. We are one cohesive club with lots of great fellowship. We are recognized as the premier and most active community service organization in the Lawton Area.
Members include business and professional leaders primarily from Southwest Oklahoma. We are a friendly and committed nonprofit organization “Leading the Way” to help improve the quality of life for those in need.
Members of the Greater Lawton Rotary Club benefit from the relationships built over the past 90+ years with the City of Lawton, the Chamber of Commerce, various nonprofit organizations, educators and business leaders within our community.
Rotary was founded on a high standard of ethics as described in our 4 Way Test.
If you are interested in meaningful community service opportunities, valuable interaction with business leaders and great fellowship, join us for lunch.
