Tickets are now on sale for Cameron University and Cameron Campus Ministry’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration banquet, featuring civil rights activist and political leader Kweisi Mfume on Monday, January 18 at 6 p.m. in the CU Fitness Center.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Tolerance in Peril: King’s Dream in America Today.” Tickets are $25 for adults and $13.50 for students and are available by calling Cameron Campus Ministry at 580-357-7226. The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, January 11.
In addition, Mfume will lead a panel discussion at 2 p.m. on January 18 in the Shepler Ballroom. Featured panelists are The Hon. David B. Lewis, Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, and Dr. Jonathon Odo, Chair, Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology.
A reception and autograph signing will follow the discussion. This event is open to the public at no charge.

The Fort Sill Apache Casino will host a 2-day relief effort for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Titled “48 Hours for Haiti,” the event will take place on Wednesday Jan. 20 and Thursday Jan. 21, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. both days.
The Fort Sill Apache casino will match all cash donations up to a maximum of $10,000. The event will benefit the American Red Cross. Checks can be made payable to: American Red Cross International Response Fund, and checks or cash donations can be made on site at the casino.
