1:00pm New Entry[1:00pm] Elgin High School Honor Society Dog Show
Description:
Students from the Elgin High School Honor Society are organizing a dog show to support their local dog shelter. The facility, which is a No Kill shelter has been struggling to care for animals that sometimes take significant time to place in a loving home. Local kids want to make a difference by working to raise funds for the shelter. The dog show, will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 9 at Osborne Park in Elgin. For a $10 entry fee, registrants can enter their dogs into a contest to determine the K-9 champions of 10 distinguished categories: cutest, best dressed, best trick, owner/dog look-a-like, celebrity look-alike, best personality, best groomed, most obedient, ugliest, and people's choice. The show has been organized by students, and the competition will be judged by the local Animal Control Officer and a panel of distinguished Elgin citizens. The students have banned together to make a difference. Elgin High School Honor Society President Zoe Cummins says that the show is a labor of love. “We all see how hard Daniel (The Animal Control Officer) and his entire family work to take care of the animals year-round,” Cummins said. “He would do anything to save an animal’s life, and spends much of his own money to feed and care for them. We just want to help him for a change” said Cummins. Interested dog owners can get more information or enter their pampered pooches by downloading an entry form at elgin-dogshow.webs.com/. Animals can also be registered on-site at Noon on Saturday afternoon.
