Janann, a young girl from a dysfunctional family, discovers the importance of having someone to care for and someone to care for her.
The author of this Oklahoma-based script is Dallas playwright Vicki Caroline Cheatwood, who was born and raised in Lawton-Ft. Sil and has strong ties to the area. "Manicures& Monuments" is directed by Jack Hunsucker.

[All day event] 4th Annual Medicine Park Flute Festival
- Description:
- The 4th Annual Medicine Park Flute festival kicks off on Sept 22 and continues through the 23rd. Entertainment begins at noon each day and continues until approx 8 pm. This year there will be 20 performers with two headliners, Johnny Lipford and Terry Frazier. Special VIP Guest will be Comanche Veteran George Red Elk who is a member of the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame. Mr. Red Elk will be honored in a special ceremony on Sunday, Sept 23rd at 5 PM. Dennis Laughlin will be Master of Ceremonies. This is a family friendly event that is free and open to the public.
[All day event] LCT Volunteer Work Day

- We have some great volunteer opportunities at the Lawton Community Theatre.
Saturday, September 22 will be our first Volunteer Workday of the season. There will be plenty to do helping build and paint sets, sorting props and helping with costumes. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Come on down to the theater at 1316 NW Bell on at 10 AM Saturday and we'll put you to work. Good friends, lots of fun. We'll even provide lunch!
We're also looking for crew members for The Sound of Music. Performances are October 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14. We need people to work backstage moving scenery and props, working follow spots, or helping with prop and costume changes. Call Shelley at 355-1600 if you're interested.
[All day event] Toughen Up, Take the Challenge: Sign Up for the Fire Truck Pull Today
- Description:
- WICHITA FALLS – Show off your strength this fall and sign up for the Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Fire Truck Pull on September 22 in Wichita Falls. Hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), the challenge requires teams of 12 people to put their biceps to the test and work together to pull an actual 55,000 pound fire truck for up to 50 feet!
The Fire Truck Pull is open to the public. Opening Ceremonies is set for 11:00 a.m. at Midwestern State University Wichita Falls, followed by the first pull at 11:15 a.m. The event will wrap with an awards ceremony for the Fastest Team Pull and Top Fundraising Team around 12:00 p.m.

[9:00am] 3rd Annual Medicine Park Art Walk
- Description:
- Artists are invite to submit a photo of their work for the 3rd Annual Medicine Park Art Walk which will take place on September 22 from 9am-6pm.
There is a $25 fee for each 9'x9' display area. No percentage is charged for sales and no resale items are allowed.
Send a high resolution photo of a sample of your work and a request for an entry form to ambassadors@mpmns.org.

- Visit over 35 vendors who all have items up for bid. No bid is over $1.00 (of course you can bid more than once on an item to increase your chances of winning) so you have the chance to win high quality vendor items for mere quarters...just bring a roll of quarters and come play :) Also if you bring can good donations for the food bank you are entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card :)
